RARE TILE OF A HAND PAINTED STORK, designed by Pierre Mallet For a long time, I tried to find the designer and/or maker of this tile, and finally came across clues on P.95 of Maureen Batkin's book, Wedgwood Ceramics 1846-1959, where one plate has the same long legged stork with both wings raised like a cloak. AESTHETIC SUNFLOWER TILE IN QUADRANTS, 1880s A delightful Aesthetic Movement transferware tile showing very upright sunflowers with a rich terra cotta color on a dark brown background. The clay is made of terra cotta clay. Bright sunflowers in two quadrants and flowing foliate stems with leaves and buds in the others. The tile is 6 inches square. The maker is unknown. Tthe condition is excellent.
