AESTHETIC MOVEMENT TILE WITH LOW RELIEF CHERRY BLOSSOMS AND LEAVES by the Trent Co. of New Jersey, c.1880s. This 6” tile is in very good condition, except for a few small edge chips. RARE TILE OF A HAND PAINTED STORK, designed by Pierre Mallet For a long time, I tried to find the designer and/or maker of this tile, and finally came across clues on P.95 of Maureen Batkin's book, Wedgwood Ceramics 1846-1959, where one plate has the same long legged stork with both wings raised like a cloak. The stork almost takes on human qualities, with its exagerrated eyes and posture. Pierre Mallet and Gustave Leonce were French designers who worked in England, designing for Wedgwoo ...click for details
