| EXOTIC AESTHETIC TRANSFER PLATTER WITH TROPICAL BIRDS AND VEGETATION, the INDUS pattern by RIDGWAY The INDUS pattern was first introduced by Ridgway in 1877. The design is an exotic Oriental scene with birds and bamboo, as well as distant pagodas - all showing Chinese and Japanese influences. The multi-motif pattern varies between different pieces of the service. It has a floral border with birds. The pattern shows lush tropical foliage, hummingbirds, a crane, trumpet vines, and bamboo, and a pond scene with water lilies, arrowheads, ferns, irises, etc., These elements of nature give it a very Oriental appearance which was popular in Victorian England. This platter with a black transfer on white clay is in very good condition, without chips, cracks or hairlines. The measurements are 14” Length x 11” Width. PLEASE contact me if you are seeing plates or other items in the INDUS pattern. | ||
