| TWO DUCKLINGS WATCHING BEETLES AND GRASSHOPPERS, for their next meal. Minton produced a series depicting ducklings at play in the yard or foraging for food. This plate has a rich blue transfer on a white bone china background. The plate is 10.25” in diameter and is in excellent condition. . The designs are very realistic, and yet, they drawings also convey the personality of the birds, with their energy and ingenuity in scavenging for food. The designer is Pierre Mallet, who also did similar bird designs for Wedgwood and Brownfield. See other listings which show more ducklings, as well as chickens. Pierre Mallet portrays the ducklings as being a little more vicious than the chickens. Markings include an impressed MINTON on the back, a small triangle, possibly a BB, but all difficult to read. Glaze crazing appears on the back side. Condition is very good, with no chips, cracks etc. | ||
