Simpson Hall Miller & Co. Aesthetic Silverplate Basket
Simpson Hall Miller & Co. Aesthetic Silverplate Basket w. Applied Berries and Dragonfly. The SHM Catalogue called it Venetian Nut Basket! The pattern no. is 51 and the pattern is called Butterflies. It weights approx 1.5 pounds. The background is an unusual Japanesque cracked ice background. The applied dragonfly and berries are another Japanesque touch. The handle is a slightly ruffled band, possibly made to look like a long leaf. The front has a conceit, in the form of a "fastening" with buttons. There is a monogram, which appears to be period in style. Marked Simpson, Hall, Miller & Co. Quadruple Plate 51. The basket stands approx. 8" tall. It has polished up very well, complete with the original gilding in the interior. There are some small plating losses, but quite minor. 90110.ypo.iis
