Description: Hand-carved Edo period ivory netsuke of a kirin. Signed on the bottom by artist Eisan. A kirin is a mythical monster with the head of a dragon, the body of a deer, serpent's scales, the tail of an ox, the hooves of a goat, and a small horn protruding from its forehead. The Kirin is a gentle, shy creature that does not harm anyone unless it is threatened. Very nice patination. Small age crack.
