He is facing right, wearing the atef crown and holding an implement. On the right, facing left, is an ureaus. Between the 2 figures in the center are four colums of hieroglyphic text. A fine Ptah-Sokar-Osiris, standing on a rectangular base. The base decorated on each side with a frieze of framed doorways. The figure is wearing a beaded broad collar with Horus-head terminals, wearing a tripartite wig and crown composed of horns and plumes, a column of inscription on front and back, his gilded face with pleasant facial expression, painted eyes and eyebrows, hole on back which originally contained a scroll. A polychrome wood panel, probably from a canopic chest. Depicting the falcon headed god, Qebehsenuef, represented with the body wrapped up like a mummy. Third Intermediate Period, 21st-25th dynasty, 1070-712 B.C. 13 inches high X 7 inches wide. Minor touch-up to the original pigment. Mounted. From a Belgian collection. Qebehsenuef's role was to protect the intestines of the deceased and was the guardian of the West. He was protected by the goddess Selket.
