With looped strap handles, incised bands around rim, notched ridge encircling lower body, on a high flaring foot. With handle, 6 inches high. 8 inch handle span. Chip on upper part of one handle. Areas of repair. From the estate of Marcel Gibrat (1915-1993). He was an art conservator for the Metropolitan Museum of Art from 1957 to 1965. He owned and operated an antiquities gallery on Madison Avenue in New York City from 1965 to 1991.

Kneeling young male figure, appears to be preparing to sprint, with his right knee and right hand resting on the integral base, his head tilted back and his enormous phallus protruding from the center of his back. Lucite mount. From a Private NYC collection, acquired in Jerusalem, 1981. Aphrodite was the goddess of love, beauty and fertility.
