AN ANCIENT EGYPTIAN WOOD CANOPIC STOPPER
Fine wood falcon-head canopic stopper depicting Qebsentenuef, protector of the viscera. Wearing a tripartite wig, with long lappets, bulging eyes and strong beak. Late Period, 664-30 B.C. 4 1/4 inches high. Traces of polychrome and gesso. Ex. collection of Louis Zara (1920-2001); Shara Gilman, thence by descent.
