A POLYCHROME AND GILT WOOD PTAH-SOKAR-OSIRIS

A fine Ptah-Sokar-Osiris, standing on a rectangular base. The base decorated on each side with a frieze of framed doorways. The figure is wearing a beaded broad collar with Horus-head terminals, wearing a tripartite wig and crown composed of horns and plumes, a column of inscription on front and back, his gilded face with pleasant facial expression, painted eyes and eyebrows, hole on back which originally contained a scroll. Ptolemaic period, 300-32 B.C. 27 inches high including base and crown. Horns repaired. All original color. Additional photos sent on request. From an old European collection. Published.
