| Original, hand colored, double sided page of Yiddish text with Hebrew letters and one woodcut depicting Jacob fighting the angel. This page is from a book which was published in Prague, Czech Republic in 1680 by and for the Congregation of the Old/New Synagogue founded in the 14th century. This book consists of Old Testament Bible stories, written primarily for women, in Yiddish to educate their children. For boys this would be an introduction to later Torah lessons. For girls this could very well be the extent of their education. Some minor foxing and some staining. 7 3/4 inches X 13 inches. | ||
