Possibly made for a cleric vowed to poverty. 1 1/4" height with rudimentary figure of the crucified Christ. Pierced for suspension. Polished glossy gray oxidation.

Simple pleasant example made from sheet bronze with the design hand incised both sides. Height 1 1/4". Note that Byzantine coins were similarly made by cutting out a rough blank, then striking it with a die on one side producing the unique "cup coin".

Dating to the birth of Islam and the conflicts with Christianity which led to the Crusades. 1 3/16” height including the suspension loop. Copper with flared terminals and incised with five circles representing the wounds of Christ. Professionally cleaned with a little green encrustation remaining.

Bronze. 2 1/16” including the suspension loop. Deep relief motif of the cross surrounded by raised edges. Each terminal with a disk, originally representing the wounds of Christ, reduced to four here for symmetry. Nice large example with fine patina.. Found in Eastern Europe on the pilgrimage route.
