Original mid-19th century Japanese woodblock print by Utagawa Toyokuni III (1786-1875), depicting depicting a bald man. There are flames on the sleeve of is kimono, which tie in nicely to the flames on the cart shown in the cartouche on the upper left. The print is in very good condition, with wonderfully fresh colors. There is a light mica overprinting over the darkest black area at the top of the print. No backing. The image measures approximately 13 15/16 by 9 1/2 inches, plus the top margin.

Her hair is lacquered and there is a mica overprinting over the darkest black area at the top of the print. No backing. The image measures approximately 14 ¼ by 9 ½ inches, plus a small top margin.

Japanese woodblock print by Hiroshi
Yoshida (1876-1950), titled Carps and Tortoises, 1940. It has both a
brush signature in the image, and a pencil signature in the bottom
margin. There is also a jizuri seal in the upper left margin, denoting that
Yoshida had approved of the quality of the print. This design is illustrated at plate 238 of Ogura, Tadao et. al.,
The Complete Woodblock Prints of Yoshida Hiroshi, Abe Publishing Co., Ltd., (Tokyo, 1987).
This print is in excellent condition, with extremely vivid colors. Pinholes are present at each corner of the
margins. The image measures approximately 14 7/8 by 9 7/8 inches, plus full margins.
