Original Japanese woodblock print by Ando Hiroshige (1797-1858), titled "The Road below the Rakan Temple in Buzen Province" from 1854. This design is the 61st plate from the series "Views of the Sixty-Nine Odd Provinces”.
The image measures approximately 13 1/2 x 9 inches. The colors are in an excellent state of preservation, as the print comes from an original Edo period album and was never framed. It is in very good condition, aside from a faint vertical centerfold through the center of image, light staining around centerfold on front and reverse, as well as minor soiling and trimming to margins.
