Japanese woodblock print by Elizabeth Keith (1887-1956), titled "From the Land of Morning Calm". The title is printed in the bottom left corner of the image, and the artist's EK seal and the date, 1921, appear in the bottom right
corner. This print is illustrated at pl. 71 of Elizabeth Keith: The Printed Works, by Richard Miles.
Note that the Miles catalogue dates this print as 1936, although even the illustrated image seems to have the 1921 date stamp. This print is has wonderfully fresh colors and is in very good condition, aside from a faint stain in the right shoulder. There is very nice baren work in the background. The image measures approximately 13 by 9 ¼ inches, plus margins. |
