Rare 20th Century Japanese Bijin Woodblock
Original Japanese woodblock print by Narita Morikane, titled “A Pair of Japanese Socks”, from the series “Twenty-Four Figures of Charming Women”, 1931. This design is illustrated at plate 206 of the important reference work “The Female Image: 20th Century Prints of Japanese Beauties”, where it indicates that this image was designed with Ohira Kasen, and published by Shinbi-sha.

The image measures 15 x 10 inches, plus margins. It is in very good condition, aside from light creasing on reverse, a blue printing smudge on reverse left margin and blue and red printing smudges on front right margin and near the seal.
