Japanese woodblock print by Hiroshi Yoshida (1876-1950), titled Maruyama Park in Kyoto, from the Kansai District series, 1933. It has a brush signature in the image and there is also a jizuri seal in the upper left margin, denoting that Yoshida had approved of the quality of the print. This design is illustrated at plate 183 of Ogura, Tadao et. al., The Complete Woodblock Prints of Yoshida Hiroshi, Abe Publishing Co., Ltd., (Tokyo, 1987). This print is in excellent condition, with extremely vivid colors, although there are three spots of foxing at the top center margin. The image measures approximately 9 5/8 x 14 3/4 inches, plus full margins. |
