Original Japanese woodblock print by Ohara Koson (1877-1945), titled " Northern Lapwing on the Branch of a Willow Tree (one leg raised)", c. 1910. This design is illustrated at plate K22.5 of "Crows, Cranes and Camellias”, the seminal reference for Koson’s work. The image measures approximately 13 x 7 1/8 inches. It is in very good condition, aside from some trimming. It is from an album of kacho-e (bird and flower prints), which appears to have been put together in Japan before 1920.
