Wonderful, pencil signed Japanese woodblock print by Toshi Yoshida (1911-1995). It is titled Stone Lanterns, and is dated 1941 in the margin in Japanese. The image depicts a gardener working on a bonsai. Toshi Yoshida is the the son of Hiroshi Yoshide, one of the shin hanga school masters, and in the last few years since his death, has finally been achieving the recognition that bypassed him during his lifetime. This print is in very good condition, with no condition issues to note, aside from some discoloration at the outer edge of the reverse left margin, which shows through slightly to the right front margin. The image measures approximately 6 5/8 by 9 5/8 inches, plus margins. |
