Four panel (quadraptych) Japanese woodblock print by Konishi Hirosada (fl. 1820-1860). It depicts a scene from a Kabuki drama, and what makes it particularly interesting is that two of the actors have tattooes.
This print has very good color. The two center sheets are attached, while the two outer sheets are not. The design is out of an album, and, accordingly, has the typically creasing and folding along the vertical edges, as well as some staining and glue residue. It is not backed. The fully assembled image measures approximately 9 5/8 by 27 3/8 inches. |
