Wonderful Paul
Jacoulet woodblock. It is titled Le Genie
sans Noms. Coree (The Unkown
Genius. Korea), published January 15,
1953. It is pencil signed and bears the
Peony seal on the front and an elaborate PJ seal on the reverse. This design is illustrated at plate
127 of Miles, Richard, The Prints of Paul Jacoulet, 1982. The image measures approximately
15 ½ by 11 ¾ inches, plus full margins. What appears to be a nick in the bottom margin on the
right was actually done intentionally at the time of printing to assist in the alignment of the wood
blocks, and is indicative of untrimmed margins. This print is in excellent condition and the colors are very fresh and intense. It came from a collection that had never been matted or framed! |
