An elegant, elongated porcelain vase with ring collar and skirted base. Upon its enameled surface, creamy chrysanthemums rise on their tall, leafy stalks toward the rim of the vase, their stems fading into the saturated iron red ground. This small, delightful porcelain vase is in excellent condition with no problems and bears the Makuzu Kozan impressed signature cartouche on its base. Height: 7.5" Late Meiji Period, Japan

A copper-patinated bronze and multi-metal covered box of rectangular form on four, small foliate feet. On its lid, an owl in high relief is perched on a fruit-bearing tree overlooking a shallow lotus pond. A silver-inlaid crescent moon, darkened by chiseled clouds, heightens the mystery inherent in this nocturnal scene. A classic silver-gray, skirted cloisonné koro on three feet with handle, the lid, base and collar finely enameled with sinuous dragons. The body, itself, is enhanced by lappets in jewel-toned enamels and geometric designs. The base is exquisitely worked in colored-enamels, a central rondel of surging dragon on a ruby-red ground. A shibuichi, eight-lobed tsuba with beautifully executed gilt kiri mons strategically placed, front and back. (The kiri mon, or paulownia crest, one of the most honored Japanese crests, also relates to the legend of the mythical phoenix that perches only on the branches of the paulownia tree.) This tsuba is in very good condition, with 2 kogai bitsu (opening for the kogai and kozuka). Length: 3" Late Edo Period, Japan

A wood and gold lacquer okimono of the great Chinese warrior Kwan Yu, his robes billowing, halberd in hand. Greek fret details on shoulder plate and belt carefully carved, the robes with gold-lacquered rondels of stylized dragons, ho-o birds and butterflies. Gold-lacquered signature Dai Nihon Koun saku on reverse. This marvelous lacquered-wood sculpture is in great condition with minimal wear. Height: 13.25" Meiji Period, Japan

The fanciful bird is embellished with floral sprays, stylized feather-patterns and writhing dragon cartouches in gosu, iron red and green enamels with luxurious gilt detailing.
