A high-shouldered pale gray cloisonne baluster vase with a spray of kiku decoration in white and green, the royal crest of the Empress at the neck. Ando signature on base, jungin "pure silver" engraving at the rim. Tomobako and silks. Height, 12". Meiji Period, Japan. This vase is in excellent condition.

A globular cloisonne vase with shakudo mounts, a lone sparrow flying over tall grasses on a soft gray-to-green graduated ground. Executed with delicate musen and fine-wiring techniques, the effect of the bird-in-flight against a vast sky at dusk is accentuated by peach-tinted clouds overhead. This is a good-sized tripodic cloisonné covered bowl of hexagonal form with rounded finial. The faceted body is brilliantly brocaded on the cover and six ogee-shaped cartouches on each of its sides are finely wired with alternating images of ho-o birds and dragons in an extraordinary array of multi-colored enamels. This is an exquisite, small covered cloisonné box with silver mounts and sumptuous silk-lined interiors. A soft sea-green enamel covers its surface, while on the lid, two pelicans fly above a stream with tall water reeds, brilliant orange-enameled kiku and tree trunks. The poetic scene is done in fine sculpted wires and colored enamels, wireless cloisonne used for the gentle waters. This is an exquisite tripodic cloisonné koro in the shape of an ancient Chinese bronze vessel with two upturned handles and pierced cover. The body is decorated with kiku and wisteria surrounding a pond laden with ducks swimming in a glistening, black enamel ground. This is a lovely soft, sea-green cloisonne vase on silver mounts worked in wired and wireless techniques with snow-capped Fuji san towering in the background. On the waters below, a lone boat sails and small huts under pine nestle in the rolling hills long side. This is a rare cloisonné vase of tapered shape with cartouches formed as owls on a dark blue enamel ground. The overlapping cartouches frame scenes executed in fine wirework of an eagle flying over turbulent waves, studies of iris, chrysanthemums and wisteria. The vase is unsigned and executed in the style of the cloisonné artist Ota. It is in excellent condition with no chips, dents or restoration. Height: 7" Meiji Period, Japan
