This is a lovely convex-formed Rimpa-style lacquered wood box with rounded corners. On the lid, a quiet scene of a hut under a plum tree is inlaid and overlaid with pewter, gold maki-e and aogai. This charming work of art is executed in the bold and sinuous style characteristic of the work of the great master, Korin. The box is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or restoration.
