A pair of bronze, copper-patinated hibachi (braziers) of modified globular form. With extensive incised detailing of stylized peony
scroll work on the bodies, the pieces have dramatic handles formed as
bats, their opened wings executed in shakudo. (Bats form part of the
cultural and aesthetic repertoire of East Asia and are associated with
good fortune and
happiness.)

This is a charming Satsuma earthenware kogo of circular form with an
amusing scene on its lid. Each of the many figures designed on the lid
is engaged in a passionate dance with hands, feet and fans in the air.
The delightful dance is rendered in minute detail in beautiful jewel-toned
enamels. The two interiors, top and bottom, are painted with lush ikebana

A tall ikebana bamboo basket composed of fine strands of lacquered
bamboo woven in a pine needle plaiting. Its broad gallery with slim,
vertical stands of bamboo evenly placed, rises from the closely woven body.
Twining
