A lustrous high-shouldered cloisonné vase with an ethereal grouping of three egrets posing in a marsh, surrounded by marvelous trees and bushes. The artist creates a subtle mood through use of wireless (musen) and wired imagery, allowing for unexpected glimpses of emerald hues against the pearly ground. Ando signature mark on base and mounts marked “pure silver” (Jungin). Tomobako with stand and silks. This vase is in very good condition with no cracks, dents or restoration.

This is an ingenious copper-patinated bronze and silver incense burner
formed as a bamboo ikebana
basket and used possibly in a shrine setting. The exterior is a
tour-de-force of mat woven bronze with the rim executed in herring bone
design, the interior silvered. The double -reed handles rise from the base
of the basket and join at

Here is a spectacular stoneware jar used for the tea ceremony. On its
body, a pair of rabbits quietly rest on a hillside mid gilt-detailed bamboo.
The rippling,
tenmoko glaze ,coveted for its fascinating green, red, brown and orange
colors,
serves as an exciting setting for these lovely creatures, so
delicately incised and raised.

An outstanding stoneware vase of baluster shape with a formation of geese
encircling its delicate beige ground.
Heightened by the use of a subtle white slip, the geese, depicted through
fine abstract
brushwork, appear to glide through the still waters, leaving behind gentle
ripples. MAKUZU KOZAN signature on the base with tomobako. The vase
is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration.

This is a rare and important pottery kogo (box) modeled in the
form of the chidori (sparrow), so beloved to the Japanese. This piece is
attributed to Nonomura Ninsei, the greatly influential
pottery
master, renowned for the beauty of his tea ceremony implements.
Characteristic
of Ninsei's style, this lovely piece is executed in a robust tenmoko
brown glaze,
accentuating its form. The kogo is in excellent condition with no chips,

A major celadon porcelain vase of tall, tapered form with a
striking lustrous glaze. On its body, in relief, a raptor with a broad,
graceful wing
span dominates the sky amid auspicious clouds, extremely realistic to the
eye and to the touch. The vase includes its tomobako and is signed at the
base SUWA

This is a small gold lacquer covered kobako (incense box) decorated
with silver and gold lacquered flower buds and leaves in hiramaki-e (low
relief) on a smoothly polished ground. Its exterior imagery describes a
charming scene surrounded by convoluted clouds
done in kirikane (cut-gold pieces), spilling onto
