A tall, elegant Satsuma vase of tapered form, pleated body and inverted rim worked in the style of early Satsuma earthenware utilizing gosu blue and deep red enameling with gilt details. On its body, tall branches of kiku, buds and leaves rising from roiling gosu waves accentuate its shape. Rich textile banners of gosu blue and gilt embrace the neck and foot. This piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. This regal vase is signed on the base with the deep blue Shimazu mark, gilt signature and iron -red art name. Height: 12" 19th Century, Japan
