Here is a charming tripodic Satsuma koro of cylindrical form. The frieze about the body depicts villagers, artists and trades people engaged in various pursuits-conversing, playing musical instruments, flying a kite, bearing a quiver with arrows, a water carrier, etc. Each figure is portrayed naturalistically in minute detail. The lid is adorned with textile brocading in rich enamel colors with gilt detail. KINKOZAN signature on the base. The box is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. Height: 2.5" Meiji Period, Japan
