| This is an aikuchi -mounted tanto in a black lacquered saya with smooth copper fittings. The gilt menuki formed as a plum blossom crest rests on a gold-lacquered, silk-covered hilt. The aikuchi tanto includes a pair of split kogai of ribbed, shakudo design, its kozuka knife with copper handle deeply carved with the image of Daruma. Includes shira saya (wood storage case). The unsigned blade is in excellent condition has a three-holed tang and dates from the late Koto Period (late 16th Century), Japan. | |||||||||||
