| A beautifully lacquered four-tiered inro with tsuishu ojime, carved in relief with flowers and scrollwork. A lustrous, mirror-like roiro ground provides an elegant backdrop for the beloved theme represented here of the cockerel and family. Togidashi maki-e in silver, gold and red lacquer define this empathic visual in exquisite detail, fine gold flakes of various sizes floating on the background. On the reverse, a small chick stands on a ground of shimmering gold maki-e. Roiro interiors are lined with gold lacquer. Koman signature in gold lacquer on the base. This elegant inro was formerly a part of the Champeau Collection and is in excellent condition with no cracks or damage. 19th Century(Edo Period), Japan | |||||||||
