| A large and major studio pottery vase of ovoid form, its base ornately rendered with textile-patterned lappets in gilt, gosu, iron red and green enamels. On the splendid brown-glazed ground, lush white sakura grow asymmetrically across its surface in delicate clusters. Each petal is outlined in gilt, a wonderful luxurious detail contrasting with the simple form of the vase. Ito Tozan (Imperial Court Artist) signature and carved signature mark on the base. This beautiful vase is in excellent condition with no defects and no restoration and includes its tomobako. Height: 12", diameter: 10" Meiji Period, Japan | |||||||||||
