| An excellent pair of gilt menuki formed as prancing horses. Menuki form part of a Japanese samurai sword's overall koshirae (mounts), and are placed under or over the tsuka (handle) wrap to provide additional friction and grip. Converted to pins, the pair of menuki pins are worked in high relief with finely incised details. Special attention is devoted to the fluidity of the mane and tail, each carefully defined. This beautiful set of horse menuki pins is in very good condition with no damage. Length: 1.25" 19th Century, Japan | |||||||
