| A tall ikebana bamboo basket composed of fine strands of lacquered bamboo woven in a pine needle plaiting. Its broad gallery with slim, vertical stands of bamboo evenly placed, rises from the closely woven body. Twining details and insect stitching along the rim and wrapped along the low reed handle secure the rim and handle in place. This basket is in excellent condition, incised Chikuunsai II signature plaque on chrysanthemum base. (Chikuunsai II is best known for his works with fine strands of lacquered bamboo.)
