A rare b/w Kendi of squat globular form, with a short cylindrical neck and a broad horizontal flange, small lipped mouth and a tapering mammiform spout. Decorated in underglazed cobalt-blue with lotus petals filled with classic scroll on the shoulder, and a pair of lion among clouds scroll on the body and spout, with a band of lotus petals beneath. One similar piece appear on Christies 1984 auction cataloque in London, with high 11.5cm and wide 15.7cm. They also note the other only one recorded example in that times of this Double-Headed type appears to be illustrated by William Willets, 'Ceramic Art of Southeast Asia, 1971, no.85. which is subsequently illustrated, Strait Times Annual, 1981, pp, 57-58, and Southeast Asian Ceramic Society, Vietnamese Ceramics, 1982, no.103.
