A 19th CENTURY TREEN BOX & LID. A circular box with spiral engraved top and base. A well constructed piece with a very tight fitting lid. The box measures 2 3/4 inches in diameter and has a depth of 1 3/8 inches. In excellent condition.
A fine VICTORIAN ENGLISH BONE SPANGLED LACE BOBBIN. Circa 1860. The bobbin has been hand carved and decorated in colors of red, green, orange and black. The spangle has six beads. The name "SAMUEL" has been worked in a pin-prick design. The bobbin measures 4 1/2 inches in length. In excellent condition.
A fine antique Victorian papier mache string holder. English. Circa 1870. The black circular box and lid are decorated with Chinese figures and floral motifs. The lid has a brass rimmed hole in the center. There is a chip on the inner rim of the lid otherwise in very good condition. The holder measures 2 1/2 inches in height by 3 inches in diameter.
A fine Victorian Mauchline Ware barrel-shaped match holder. Scotland, 19th century. The match holder has a fine transfer print of Lincoln Cathedral. In excellent condition. It measures 2 1/4 inches in height.
Victorian Scottish Mauchline Ware cylindrical case. Probably used for either needles or matches. The case has a pull-off lid. It is decorated with an English Lake District transfer print of "Keswick Boat Station, Derwentwater.". There are tiny surface scratches but, overall, the case is in good condition. It measures 3 1/4 inches in height by 1 1/4 inches in diameter.
A 19th century octagonal lacquer and mother-of-pearl tray. The tray has an inlaid mother-of-pearl Chinoiserie design featuring two figures (a man and a woman) in a garden setting. Inset into the rim of the tray are geometric designs of which one is missing a small (less than 1/4 inch)piece of pearl. There is also a small chip from the rim but overall the tray is in remarkably good condition. Measures 11" by 11" with the sides measuring 7/8 inches in depth.
A fine Arts and Crafts period wooden cigar box, dated Christmas 1905. Made of soft pine and decorated on the top and sides with an all-over floral pattern in the Arts and Crafts style. Fitted with metal hinges and clasp. The decoration has been worked by means of zylography or wood burning technique. Marked "Cigars" on the lid. There is a very small chip at the top-left of the base (see enlargement 4) and small stress marks at the joints but overall in excellent condition. The base is ...click for details
An ebony desk seal, circa 1910. Smooth tapered handle with attached silver metal rococo cartouche engraved with the initial "B". Circular flat disc base with the letter "B". Part of the silver metal coating has flaked off the base. Measures 2 3/8 inches in length.
A Cantonese carved ivory needlecase, circa 1860. Screw-top tapered cylindrical shape. There is a very slight and insignificant chip to the top and also to the edge of the base. Age-soiled. Measures 3 1/8 inches in length.
