An antique ART NOUVEAU sterling silver and metal brooch. Made by Foster & Bailey, circa 1895. Stamped on the back with the maker's flag-shaped hallmark and STERLING & METAL. Hinged straight pin on the back with a C clasp. The brooch is a large oval measuring 2 inches in height by 1 1/2 inches in width. It has a sterling silver border enclosing a copper colored metal plaque. Affixed to the plaque is a sinuous and serpentine openwork design featuring two GRYPHON heads face-to-face. A sterling silver Art Nouveau belt buckle, circa 1895. The openwork design is composed of swirling ribbons in a rectangular shape. The back is stamped STERLING and is fitted with attachments for a belt. Measures 3 1/4 inches in height by 2 1/8 inches in width.

A fine sterling silver ART NOUVEAU belt buckle, circa 1890. Stamped on the back: E (in script)/STERLING. Classic horizontal open rectangle with an engraved border design depicting four water lilies amidst swirling water. Fitted on the back with a two prong belt attachment. In fine condition. Measures 2 7/8 inches in width by 2 3/8 inches in height. The border measures 9/16ths inches in width. NOTE: See "Silver Jewelry Designs" by Nancy Schiffer, page 14.
