A FINE VICTORIAN DIE-CUT AND EMBOSSED CHROMOLITHOGRAPH VALENTINE. Circa 1890s. Printed in full colors. The card measures approximately 6" x 5 1/2". A head and shoulders portrait of a beautiful young girl is framed by pink and yellow roses and surmounts a heart that is captioned: A Greeting...from thy VALENTINE. Verso is blank. Die-cut with a scenic view tipped on to the front and which lifts up to reveal a sentimental gilt printed message beneath (see enlargement 2). There is no message inside the card (see enlargement 3). Captioned: "Cupid brings you Loving Greetings". The design features a young girl in hooded attire and carrying green foliage. Verso is blank but with three very small and neat inked initials on lower left:"L.F.H.". Very slight wear to upper right corner otherwise in NEAR MINT CONDITION.

A VICTORIAN EMBOSSED AND LACE PAPER VALENTINE. Circa 1890s. Folded measurement is approximately 6 1/4" x 4 1/2". The card has a border printed in blue, pink, white and gilt. The card is decorated with lace paper and colorful scrap. There is a four-line poem on the inside which is printed within a decorative illustration featuring Cupid and his bow and arrow. In very good condition with no inked or pencilled writing or signatures.
