With many contributions from the leading authors and illustrators of the day including: LAWSON WOOD, ERNEST H. SHEPARD, CHARLES FOLKARD, G.E. STUDDY, MABEL LUCIE ATTWELL, etc. Cover edges frayed and some staining at the lower edge of a few pages otherwise a very good copy of a scarce item. Measures 11" x 8 1/2".

A RARE HEXAGONAL DIE-CUT CHROMOLITHOGRAPHED PERFUME LABEL FOR "PARFUM NOUVEAU" by Lorenzy-Falanca. Circa 1900. The embossed die-cut label is printed in full colors and gilt. It could be for either a perfume box or perfume bottle. The center of the label is gilt with white lettering: PARFUM NOUVEAU/ PREPARE PAR/ Lorenzy-Falanca. The card opens up for a three-dimensional effect to reveal a colorful scene of Cupid with an array of lilacs. There is a Valentine verse on a forget-me-not bordered heart: With you my love/ Can none compare/ As good and kind/ As you are fair. LEWIS CARROLL. ADVERTISEMENT. Christmas, 1893. A single 8vo page with printed text on recto. Carroll expresses his annoyance to his readers that in the Sixtieth Thousand printing of Macmillan & Co's "Through the Looking-Glass" the pictures "have failed so much, in the printing, as to make the book not worth buying". He goes on to urge all holders of copies to return them to the publisher for a replacement. Measures 7 1/4 inches by 4 3/4 inches. Fine condition.
