The card opens up for a three-dimensional effect to reveal a colorful scene of Cupid with an array of lilacs. There is a Valentine verse on a forget-me-not bordered heart: With you my love/ Can none compare/ As good and kind/ As you are fair. The card is captioned "A MERRY CHRISTMAS!" along with a verse "A little bird flies through the door/ What does it want, I pray/ it comes to bring a little gift/ For you this Christmas day.". The card depicts a small child, seated, with several birds flying towards him. Plain back. measures 6 1/4 inches by 3 1/4 inches. In excellent condition.

Carroll expresses his annoyance to his readers that in the Sixtieth Thousand printing of Macmillan & Co's "Through the Looking-Glass" the pictures "have failed so much, in the printing, as to make the book not worth buying". He goes on to urge all holders of copies to return them to the publisher for a replacement. Measures 7 1/4 inches by 4 3/4 inches.
