A FINE MINIATURE IMARI PATTERN CUP AND SAUCER. Made by HOKUSHODA, Occupied Japan, 1945-1952. Each piece has a quatrefoil lobed shape and is decorated with an IMARI pattern in cobalt blue, red, and gilt. The saucer measures 3 1/4 inches by 2 5/8 inches. The cup measures 1 1/4 inches in height. In excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing.

"MARY HAD A LITTLE LAMB" ROYAL DOULTON FIGURINE. Designed by Margaret Davies. One of Doulton's most charming NURSERY RHYME FIGURES. It depicts Mary - seated, and with her lamb gazing up into her sweet face. Mary is wearing a lilac dress with blue trim. The figure measures approximately 3 1/2 inches in height. In excellent condition with no chips or cracks. SIGNED on the base with the painter's initials "MM".

Includes a history of the company dating back to 1751, descriptions of all aspects of the manufacturing process, and has four pages showing the company's marks. Measures 7 1/4" x 3 1/4". A few neat ink notations on the marks' pages otherwise in excellent condition (please see enlargements 5 & 6). A scarce booklet.
