A beautiful Haviland & Cie. plate with handpainted decoration signed by A. A. Elliott. Limoges, circa 1888-1896. Marked in underglaze green (see enlargement 9). The plate has a lobed edge and pale lavender border featuring raised shell-form decoration in gilt. The center of the plate has been masterfully painted by A. A. Elliott and depicts a winged maiden gazing into a pool. I believe the maiden is meant to represent Psyche, the bride of Cupid, and who is always depicted with butterfly wing ...click for details

A lovely tea service set by William Guerin & Co., Limoges, France, circa 1915. The set consists of a large dessert plate, teapot and lid, sugar bowl and lid, and creamer. Each piece is stamped with Guerin's green mark underglaze (used 1900-1932) and with an additional overglaze mark, in gold, indicating the set was made exclusively for the prestigious Washington, D C firm of Dulin & Martin.
