EX LIBRIS BOOKPLATE FOR L(yman) FRANK BAUM. An engraved bookplate measuring 3 1/4 inches by 4 1/2 inches. The bookplate is lettered: From/ The Personal Library/ of L. Frank Baum (signature printed in facsimile)/ OZCOT/ HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA. L. Frank Baum (1856-1919) is, of course, best known for his series of OZ BOOKS - the most notable being the ever-popular American classic "The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz".

EX LIBRIS BOOKPLATE FOR EDMUND YATES. ENGRAVED ARMORIAL WITH FACSIMILE SIGNATURE. Edmund Yates (1831-1894) was a British novelist and dramatist born in Edinburgh. He was Editor of "THE WORLD" a society journal. The bookplate measures 4 5/8 inches by 3 1/8 inches. Franks 32825. Lower right corner is creased otherwise in very good condition.

A rare proof engraving by Edmund Evans, before letters, of the illustration by Kate Greenaway for "JULY" in Greenaway's "Almanack For 1883". The illustration depicts (at top) a girl with parasol and (at bottom) a girl playing with a ball. The full-color final published version drops the bottom picture in favor of a boy asleep on the grass and adds a flower to the center of the page. A rare outline proof engraving, before letters, of the illustration for "OCTOBER" in Kate Greenaway's 1883 Almanack. This early proof was engraved by Edmund Evans and depicts, in outline (at top), four children gathering apples at the foot of an apple tree and (at bottom) a group of three girls. The full color final published work differs from this proof by adding a rose in the center of the page and changing the bottom scene to that of two girls playing ring-around-a-rosy.
