A fine porcelain figure of the ITALIAN COMMEDIA dell'ARTE character PIERROT, the sad-faced clown who pines for his love "Columbine" who has left him for "Harlequin". Stamped on the hexagonal base with the maker's mark. The figure stands 8 1/2 inches tall. The hexagonal base measures 3 3/4 inches at its widest point. The figure has a glazed finish and is decorated in gilt and black. In excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
A fine RARE MINIATURE PORCELAIN FIGURE of a WOMAN IN PERIOD COSTUME. Selb, Bavaria, ROSENTHAL. Circa 1920. This charming figure stands only 2 1/4 inches tall. The woman's period costume is decorated in cobalt blue and gilt. She has a poke bonnet trimmed in gilt, a cobalt blue bodice with gilt lacing, and her skirt is scattered with gilt roses. A pair of floral-decorated knife rests by Meissen. Each with the Meissen crossed swords mark, in blue, underglaze. Fine porcelain rests with hand-painted floral decoration at either end of each rest and on three sides - a total of 12 different floral designs. Gilt trim. In excellent condition with only slight wear overall. Each rest measures approximately 3 3/4 inches in length.
