EARLY AMERICAN FOLK ART. 6 ITEMS. Circa 1831
$75.00

EARLY AMERICAN FOLK ART CONSISTING OF THREE ORIGINAL DRAWINGS. Together with the previous owner's envelope and two newspaper clippings. The group includes: 1.) An envelope inscribed with the previous owner's name - Mrs Limberg; 2.) Small watercolor of a basket and flowers. Measurement is 2 3/4" x 2 3/4". 3.) Small pen and ink drawing of a basket of flowers. Measurement is 3 1/2 " by 3 3/4". 4.) Ink and watercolor drawing drawn ON SILK of a turreted castle in a green landscape. Measurement is 1 7/8" in diameter; 5.) Newspaper clipping for THE PENNSYLVANIA WHIG. Note: dates on reverse of clipping indicate a publication date of 1831. The clipping is of a poem "A NAMBY-PAMBYAD"; 6.) Newspaper clipping from THE PHILADELPHIA SATURDAY COURIER of a poem by MISS LUCY SEYMOUR entitled "LINES SUGGESTED BY HEARING "HE NEVER SAID HE LOVED". Please see enlargements. This group of items were purchased by me more than 40 years ago and were all enclosed together in the envelope belonging to Mrs Limberg. The drawings are obviously done by one artist - sadly unidentified -but, possibly by a friend or relation of "Mrs. Limberg". I think, if the drawings were framed separately, that they would make a charming grouping.
