| A fine VICTORIAN SCOTTISH 12K GOLD, JASPER, and MOSS AGATE DIRK BROOCH. Circa 1880s. Not marked but tests for 12K gold. There is a hinged straight pin on the back with a C clasp. The brooch is formed as a Scottish dirk with finely engraved gold work and set with typical Scottish "pebbles". The hilt features a gold-encrusted red jasper cabochon atop a blade that is set with lovely moss agate. The point of the blade is set in engraved gold. A green and red jasper CROSS is midway along the blade. The brooch measures 2 1/4 inches in length. In excellent condition. Gross weight 4 grams. A lovely example of the type of Scottish jewelry made popular by Queen Victoria. | ||||||||||||
