| AN ORIGINAL PEN AND INK DRAWING FOR A CHILD'S EX LIBRIS BOOKPLATE BY MONRO S. ORR (1874-?). Circa 1920s. On artist's board measuring 10 3/4 inches by 4 1/2 inches. Picture image measures 7 1/8 inches by 3 1.2 inches. Signed with the artist's monogram lower left. This fine drawing by the prolific SCOTTISH BOOK ILLUSTRATOR; PAINTER and ETCHER - MONRO S. ORR - depicts a hooded dwarf who strolls along with his cane and his knapsack on his back. The artist has covered the area within the bold black outline of the design in a light wash for contrast. In excellent condition. A rare opportunity to own a unique and special bookplate of one's own. Orr studied at the Glasgow Scool of Art; Royal Scottish Academy, the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolors; and the Glasgow Institute. | |||||||
