BENJAMIN FRANKLIN WATERCOLOR ILLUSTRATION. J.F.CAMPBELL
AN ORIGINAL WATERCOLOR ILLUSTRATION DEPICTING BENJAMIN FRANKLIN PERFORMING HIS EXPERIMENT ON LIGHTNING CONDUCTION. Painted by John F. Campbell (unsigned) for an edition of "HEROES OF THE SCIENTIFIC WORLD" published in 1929 by Seeley, Service & Co., Ltd., London. The painting shows Franklin and his son about to perform the experiment during a storm. The painting is masterfully done with an impressive rendition of dark clouds and lightning. The painting measures 10" by 6 1/4" in a frame measuring 16" by 12". Please see enlargements for details. The painting was executed for use as the illustration on the spine of the book's dust jacket. A copy of the book accompanies the sale of the painting.
