Circa 1978, this little bird is decorated in shades of brown on a white slip ground. Signed. Height approximately 1 3/4 inches, length approximately 1 7/8 inches. Excellent estate condition.
Self-taught and hailing from the Acoma Pueblo, New Mexico, Lucy M. Lewis (1898-1992) was a widely respected, award-winning potter. Examples of her pottery are in the collection of the Smithsonian Institution and the Museum of the American Indian, both in Washington, DC.
