Very beautiful scroll painting of the 9 Heavenly Kings or Emperor Gods. In the top of the scroll is a picture of Dou Mu, who married a Chinese king. She had nine sons who were deified (Kiu Ong) and became the gods of the sun, the moon and seven other heavenly bodies. Doumu is the Taoist representation of Guanyin or Avalokiteshvara. You can also see the 4 Guardian of Heaven, a heavenly general, angels etc. The scroll is in good condition and where necessary carefully restored. The painting is on paper. The length is 235 cm. and the scroll is 90 cm. wide. China, 19th. century.
