Chinese blue and white Kraak porcelain dish retrieved from the Hatcher shipwreck, dating to the Transitional period, c. 1643. Painted in underglaze blue with a bird among flowering plants in a star-shaped medallion. The sides with paneled decoration of tassels alternating with lingzhi or flowers. On the underside sketchy wide and narrow panels. Glazed base with chatter marks and foot rim with little adhering kiln-sand. The well with some glaze impurities. Masterly carved from hardwood, the base made apart and patinated differently. Standing god of longevity holding his attributes, the staff with scroll and the peach, to his feet a crane with a linzhi fungus.
