Finely potted porcelain saucer with two moulded borders of petals in relief, dating to the late Ming period. The well beautifully painted in underglaze blue with a bird of prey standing on a rock below a pine tree watching a duck. The border with a sparsely celadon tinted glaze. Condition: fine - no cracks and repairs. Only well with partial tiny wear and sparse rim frittings, foot rim with adhering kiln sand. Dimension: 20.6 cm diameter, weight: 260 g.

Rare contemporary document with 12 woodblock printed illustrations produced 1877 during the North China famine by Chinese philanthropists in imperial China, to draw attention to the enormous disaster. In 1878 this booklet was translated by the great Sinologist J. Legge and published in London under the title "The Famine in China". Two export porcelain dishes beautifully decorated in underglaze blue, dating to the Yongzheng period. The central design depicting two elegant ladies in a garden setting, in the foreground two boys at play. The scene is surrounded by a diaper border with figural panels. Two Chinese porcelain saucers made in the early 19th century for the export to Vietnam. The well decorated with a dragon continuing on the exterior in underglaze blue. The base is glazed, marked with shop name "Yu Zhen" in underglaze blue. Condition: no chips, no cracks, only one saucer with little production flaws, the rims are a bit uneven, some traces of usage.
